Not exactly. The pulmonary veins are the target of ablation because they are the most common initiation site. If the procedure is successful, AF and symptoms will cease.
This description does not fit the typical pattern of "vagal AF." Longstanding AF can be a target of ablation but is more challenging. Using medications to control heart rate is also an option to help limit symptoms and prevent weakening of the heart.
After you undergo the ablation, there would be no problem in going back to these medications if they were deemed necessary by your doctor(s).
